Service to our community is valued by not only us at The Studio but also by our families. We have always included service as part of our programs and community involvement further educates our dancers in many beneficial ways.
A service component accompanies our recital theme.

In the fall of 2017 our Raising the Barre group became more involved in planning our service. Their first drive involved a costume collection and donation to Traveling Tutus. An organization that sends costumes to children abroad who otherwise doesn’t have items of this nature. In November they hosted a party, “Dancing Through the Storm” benefiting the non-profit One America Appeal to support victims of the natural disasters. And in the spring The Studio hosted a food drive to benefit the Central PA Food bank. Our wonderful dance families provided generous support to these endeavors.
In 2016 we supported the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Our friend, Noah, received his wish and traveled to Disney World for his birthday!
For 2015 we are excited to be serving Leg Up Farm, a therapy farm for children with Intellection and Developmental Disabilities in York County. Further we sent donated costumes to this group for a dress up area of the Farm.
In 2014 Studio Dancers supported the Arthritis Foundation to raise awareness for Juvenile Arthritis. We sold Jingle Bells and participated in the Jingle Bell Run.

Light a Light! Dancers from The Studio had the opportunity to perform for families of the Ronald McDonald and assist with the event. Our dancers performed short pieces from The Nutcracker and taught some of our new friends how to dance to the music as well! We also had the opportunity to help them with crafts. We also got to see the tree lighting. It was a really special night!

Dancers from The Studio had a wonderful opportunity to attend a princess party hosted by Jamie’s Dream Team for a special look girl in our community with health difficulties. Families from The Studio generously donated a swing set to her family. Our dancers attended the party in costume to greet her royally and enjoy a wonderful party to celebrate!

East Pennsboro Dancing With the Stars! Dancers from The Studio performed for this local event to help raise money for the East Pennsboro School District’s Foundation. It was a very successful event for the school district and a lot of fun for us!
Our 2013 Recital, Keep Moving Forward focused on supporting our military. We collected care packages to send to soldiers during our Summer Preview Days and again in May, which were sent to our local PA troops in Afghanistan. We also had the rare opportunity to work directly with the children of military families. In March we were humbled with the chance to participate in a Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program at the Hershey Lodge. This is an event for military families after the solider has returned from deployment. We had the opportunity to dance with the children and perform for the entire group. We even had one of the kids dance with us — she dance for her family and all of the attendees! It was a lot of fun and a very memorable experience.
In 2012 we partnered with the American Literacy Corporation [ALC] in Harrisburg to promote literacy. In the fall our dancers performed for residents of the dementia unit at Country Meadows. At the conclusion of our performance our dancers enjoyed treats while being read to by Ms. Rose, a resident. In March, 50 Studio dancers performed at HACC’s Cooper Student Union at a birthday party for Dr. Seuss hosted by ALC. In April, The Studio hosted our first Read & Dance Day. Dancers got to see a glimpse of Peter Pan, practice their dances, and enjoy fun reading activities. We have many budding authors!
We were joined that day by Floyd Stokes of ALC, and three ABC News 27 anchors, Megan Healy, James Crummel, and Valerie Pritchett. It was a great day and you raised over $650 for ALC. I am blessed to work with our amazing families and impressed by all they do.
