THE STUDIO COMPANY’S PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES
There are many opportunities to get involved at The Studio! The Studio Company houses three different groups of dancers seeking extra involvement and instruction. Many of our serious dancers are members of more than one if not all of these groups. Members of these groups take summer dance classes. Auditions are held in the spring for the following fall season. Usually all of our interested dancers will be granted admission to The Studio Ballet Company and The Studio Performing Groups.
The Studio Ballet Company
Dancers in The Studio Ballet Company perform in our Spring Ballets. Past ballets include TinkerBell, Alice in Wonderland, and Cinderella, just to name a few. We offer a free performance for local school children and two public performances. We perform our Nutcracker every three years. Younger dancers may join the company by taking two ballet classes a week. Requirements increase for pointe dancers.
The Studio Performing Groups
Dancers in The Studio Performing Groups attend local community events. There are opportunities for big trips, e.g. Disney World or Atlantic City, but most of our travel is local. We perform for community festivals, incorporating our service project for the year as well. For example, our performing groups have held a Dance-A-Thon for the Juvenile Arthritis Foundation, performed for the US Army, and the Ronald McDonald House. Dancers in performing groups are required to take three classes a week.
Team Studio dancers attend dance competitions. They also have some opportunities to perform locally. Our competition dancers have the most rigorous dance class requirements.
