Policies

Class

Classes begin on time. For the courtesy of others please be prompt and ready to begin class with your shoes on by the designated time. Strong attendance is encouraged as continuity greatly enhances the learning process. It is critical that your dancer make every effort to attend class in the spring as we approach the show.

Parents and families are welcome to wait in The Studio during class. We ask if you do wait that you please keep cell phones, conversations, etc., quiet for the courtesy of others.

Students are encouraged to bring bottled water to class. There is a water fountain down the hallway but it is not convenient during class.

If you are unable to attend class please try to call ahead of time.

Facilities

Parents are required to come into the building to pick up their children. If anyone other than the child’s parent is to pick up the child that person must check in with the instructor. Assistant Teachers will release students only to their parents or recognized family members.

The restroom is inside the waiting area of The Studio. As there is only one, please plan make all necessary accommodations at home so your dancer is prepared for class upon arrival.

Community Performances & Trips

Community performances are not mandatory. However, as part of our service to the community, available dancers are encouraged to participate. These performances do not occur often and give the dancers the benefit of performing in front of a group and being exposed to different environments.

Trips are also not mandatory. It is important to me to share an appreciation of the Arts with our dancers. I will provide opportunities for the dancers to experience art in its many forms on the basis of interest.

Bring a Friend

Bring a friend to dance! If a student joins The Studio at your recommendation you will receive credit towards your tuition (up to $30) after the new dancer has completed his or her second month.

Practice

While this may be an antiquated idea, The Studio firmly believes in practice at home. Perhaps unlike other organizations, I believe that children should have the opportunity to explore a variety of interests and should not to be tied to just one activity. However, if you are expecting your dancer to go professional these rules do not apply and we should discuss that possibility.

In the spring we send home practice DVDs for all dances so your student can practice at home with family.

Fees

A $25 non-refundable registration fee is required per family each year at enrollment. The fee is $15.00 for returning families.

Tuition is due in full the first class of every month. If you write your check before the 10th of the month you will receive an early-pay discount of $5.00. For the convenience of our families we have streamlined all expenses that we could anticipate into 10 installment payments.  These payments include our base tuition rates and monies to be put towards winter and spring costumes.  This eliminates a spring costume bill that can be difficult to budget for.

Tuition Installments (10):

$54 / payment for We Two [early pay $49]

$60 / payment for Pre-K [early pay $55]

$66 / payment for Beginner I & Beginner II [early pay $61]

$73 / payment for Advanced Beginner &  Intermediate I [early pay $68]

$78 / payment for Intermediate II, III,  IV, & Advanced I [early pay $73]

$76 / payment for Adults [early pay $71]

$85 / payment for Advanced 2 [early pay $80]

There is a $10 dollar discount for every additional dancer or class per family.

Zumba & Yoga / Pilates combination class work a bit differently. These classes are drop-in and meant to provide healthy bodies for healthy living. :)

Zumba and Zumbatomic classes are $5 / class. You may purchase an $50 punch card with 11 classes and get a free class!

Zumba Toning and Yoga / Pilates are $12 walk-in with the option of a $50 punch card with 5 classes.

Yoga / Pilates may also be treated as a registered class for any existing dancers, allowing for that discount.

Communications

The Studio provides most of its communications via email, including links to newsletters, updates, etc. Providing us with an active email address best ensures your up-to-date communication. Further we strive to keep our website updated with all of the information and documents you may need. The website is always a good place to check. We also post a copy of the latest newsletter on the bulletin board and other places around The Studio. There are paper copies for you to pick up as well, should you like one.

Inclement Weather

The Studio will operate in accordance with the East Pennsboro Area School District in terms of closings for inclement weather. If there is a question (if snow begins later or clears up early in the day) check The Studio voicemail for information at (717) 418-9258. There are no refunds for cancellations due to weather but we encourage make-up classes when possible.

Make-up Classes

Should your dancer miss a class for inclement weather, a holiday, or illnes, he or she is welcome to attend a make-up class. Most classes have a comparable class that your student can attend on the rare occasion when that may be needed. Please see the bulletin board for the listing of make-up classes.
